New Instructor Feedback Option
Quizzes are an amazing tool for both students and teachers. Students can take these quizzes to test their learning outcomes and find out how much they actually learned. Teachers, on the other hand, can use quizzes and quiz results to monitor how the students are progressing, which topics cause them the most confusion, and provide meaningful feedback on submitted quizzes.
To ensure instructors can provide students with meaningful feedback in an even more efficient way, we’ve now added a field for feedback on quiz attempts on the frontend. This allows all instructors to send feedback directly from the frontend while grading a student’s quiz.
Certificate Customizer and Certificates Addon Enhancements
Using the Certificate Customizer addon, any administrator or instructor could upload and use custom templates for the courses. Due to some conflicts with earlier updates, however, custom templates were not working as designed. This has been patched since, and will now work as expected.
Other Changes
- Fix: Wrong percentage stats on course completion in report
The course completion generates reports on how far a student has progressed with this course. We recently found a bug that caused the system to report wrong numbers, and as a result show the wrong progression percentage. This has now been fixed and will show correct statistics for student’s course progress.
- Fix: Quiz answers security issue fixed
There was quite an interesting flaw in previous versions of Tutor LMS by which students could find the correct answers to a question in a quiz. In fact, they could find the answers even before submitting the answers themselves. All they needed was some surface-level HTML knowledge. Fortunately, this has now been fixed and we have even made some architectural upgrades to make sure that it never happens in the future.
- Fix: Categories not showing hierarchically in course filter
By default, when creating a course archive page, or a course listing page, there will be filters for filtering out courses. These filters were not properly showing the hierarchy of categories previously which we have patched in this update.

Is this version of tutor lms compatible with php 8?
Sekander
Hi,
We are still not recommnding using PHP 8 with Tutor LMS yet. PHP 8 is just a couple of months old and we want to wait a few more months to know that it is stable 🙂
Besides most of the hosted WordPress services are still running PHP 7.2 as default. So, it would be a bit of a stress to maintain backwards compatibility and support both PHP7 and 8 versions.

Hi everyone.
Is it possible to obtain a list (export as .csv) of the students subscribed to a free course?
With a paid course, I can extract a list with the data of the students through woocommerce, however, with a free course the payment is not generated, which is not related to a free course.
I’m looking for something from the blog and the documentation, but I can’t find anything.
Thanks.
Sekander
Hi,
I am sorry to inform you that we do not have the feature to export email addresses based on courses at this moment. But you can use an automation tool to add the students of a specific course to a mailing list. We have integration with Groundhogg, AutomateWP and Uncanny Owl.

Hi Sekander, thank you for the answer.
If you want to send an email to a list of students. Can it be done from the TutorLMS Pro? Any extensions or addons?
Thank you.
Sekander
I am sorry to inform you that we do not have a data exporting system at this moment but you can use some automation tool to sync Tutor LMS data with a CRM system.
Currently, we have integration with Groundhogg, Automate WP and Uncanny Owl.

Please suggest me a way to stop my students from using a screen recording software & record all my premium courses.
Sekander
Hi,
Tutor LMS is a WordPress plugin which runs on the server side. So, we do not have control over the browser extensions and desktop software. So, this is out of our scope and almost impossible to stop recording software.
I personally believe, we can not control how a human uses things but we can have law enforcements in place to discourage detrimental behavior. You can place a warning on the video welcome screen while editing the video. You can also mention the rules and agreements on the terms of service agreement So that people can agree to the terms and you can take legal actions when people try to record your materials.

Thanks for the udate. Tutor LMS has the potential to dominate with this frontent course builder.
Please consider the possibility of displaying the current course name in lesson page. Now the lesson appears kind disconnected from its course. Probably on top of lessons list or breadcrumb somewhere?
vorgias
Shortcodes like [course_name], [lesson_name] could also help.

Thanks for your suggestions. We will keep them in our considerations.

Anybody else reported issues with quizzes not working after update??? – Nothing happens when clicking on the “Answer question and next” – urgent!!!
kawshar
Can you please check your browser console? There should be javascript errors if the quizzes are not working.
Please make sure that you clear your browser cache and possibly Cloudflare cache after updating the plugin.
Sometimes 3rd party caching solutions create problems.
Thanks

Thanks for updates. One thing I really miss, is a way to change name of author of a course. I work in a servicebureau, and author of course is named as my company, instead of my customer, tried the fix I could find online, but was only able to add authors/instructors, so now there is 3 authors… That would be a nice fix.
Sekander
Hey Gurmukh,
We use the primary author data to calculate the sales commission, generate reports, and give access to course materials and data with edit permissions. So, for these and other reasons, we try to keep the original author fix to avoid abnormalities in the data.
If you really need to modify the author name, I would recommend hiring a developer to help you.

Please do a built-in checkout. I really love your products
Sekander
This is already planned. We will start working on the payment processing system after we release the certificate builder feature 🙂

Please keep the option of allowing woocommerce as there are hundreds of payment gateways you may not be able to facilitate. Woocommerce already has compatabiliy for most and most gateways create their plugins around woocommerce. Thank you
Sekander
Yes, none of the existing features will be removed. We will just add a new payments add-on or plugin.
The payment gateways will also follow a similar format as WooCommerce so that you can just change the namespace and use the gateway with our plugin.

I like that you focus on making TutoLMS stable and reliable. WordPress being an already complex system need also other complex plugins be super polished.
Keep up the great work.
kawshar
Thank you. Yes, making Tutor LMS extremely reliable is our primary focus. But, our team is working on many exciting features alongside.
Thanks 🙏

I want to give a suggestion for quiz, after attempting the quiz there should be the result overview of all qiestions that which answers wete correct if any student mark the question as wrong and that was incorrect in detailed view, so ot should also be reflect in result that which options ere correct , if the selected options was chosen incoreect by the student. So that the student can learn that ehich answer is correct, it increase the knowledge of students. If itbwilll not be like tht then how the student can able to know that what should be the correct answer if i chosen incoorect. So its hould be tgere in quiz result. Otherwise there is no any meaning of quiz. if. student will not ble to know the correct answer.

We will work on the quiz system this year. Thanks for your suggestions. We will keep them in our considerations.
