Sharing Moments from WordCamp Europe 2019

4 Min Read

At the end of a journey of thousands of happy smiles, swags, meaningful conversations and more- WordCamp Europe has closed its curtains. Themeum team just landed after the amazing event, and this post is us sharing our entire experience with all of you. We are grateful to the people who made WordCamp Europe so great. For those of you who couldn’t join, this is our way of including you in it through our eyes.

Behind The Scenes

Themeum swags for WordCamp Europe 2019

Our journey to WordCamp Europe started with shipping over 1500 swags for everyone attending. Carrying the huge amount of Tshirts, field notes, etc. was nothing short of a challenge. The language barrier just added on to it. Since only our CEO, Kawshar Ahmed, flew in for the event & our Europe team joined him there, we had to DHL the massive cargo. Thanks to the amazing hospitality of Estrel Berlin for storing our shipment for us even before we reached there!

Once we sorted out all the swag shipment and got all the ones we manufactured from Europe, we got down to the pre-party. The best part about the party was of the amazing connections and insights we got from WordPress pioneers. Chatting with Vova Feldman, Mike Demo, Akshat Choudhary, Rahul Bansal and more was the highlight of this event. Even talking with them for a while lets you understand what makes them such icons.

The Main Event

On the day of the event, a huge surprise was waiting for us. Once we set up the booth, there were people lining up for our swags! As people waited in line to take a turn at the fortune wheel, we saw excited laughs, people bonding and appreciating our stall. A huge shoutout to the lead designer, Sadia Ahmed Shamma, for her creativity and the entire design team for the swag designs. By midday, all of our swags were completely gone. Not only attendees but other sponsors came to have a look at our colourful and vibrant swags. Everywhere our teammates went, we would hear remarks on how cool our Tshirts are and how they love the design, that truly made us smile. Even people on the streets loved our Game of Thrones inspired t-shirt.

However, the happiest moment of the entire event was when our customers came to our booth. When we started our WordCamp journey with WordCamp Malaysia last year and even WordCamp USA, Themeum was a company people were curious about. But that was the not the case this year. We noticed a massive shift in how people recognized us. WordPress users who have talked to our support staff, read our blog posts, and most importantly built their sites using our products, came up to us!

We were thrilled with the feedback of our clients who saw our efforts in providing them with some great products and service. They were impressed with our work on WP Crowdfunding and how fast it helped them built a complete crowdfunding site. Some of them had used our WP Page builder to craft their site from scratch & then implemented WP Mega Menu to include creative menus inside. However, we got the biggest response for two of our flagship products- Qubely & Tutor LMS.

  • Qubely– We launched Qubely in WordCamp Europe. With the huge collection of blocks and 120+ ready-made sections, there are infinite possibilities to create sites with this plugin.
  • Tutor LMS– The most advanced Tutor LMS that’s already gaining a lot of hype. With 10 unique question patterns, useful addons, drag & drop course builder- creating an eLearning platform is a hassle-free task with Tutor LMS.

Meetups at The Event

Matt Mullenweg with Themeum CEO, Kawshar Ahmed

One of the highlights for us was when Matt Mullenweg appreciated Qubely and our plans to enhance the Gutenberg experience. From the initial hindrance of users to more acceptance of Gutenberg editor shows that WordPress is moving in the right direction. Qubely is just the kind of product that helps make the process more enriched.

Chris Lema gave great feedback on our WordPress LMS plugin. We chatted with people from WPMayor, WordLift, WPengine, Cloudways, Shifter, and Kinsta. Charlie Livingston, CEO of aThemes, also engaged in a lively conversation with us.

Another big shoutout to Milan Ivanovic, Bernhard Kau, and the entire organizing team for bringing together this amazing event!

Endnote

All in all, we could not have asked for a better experience in WordCamp Europe. If anything, we feel more rewarded than ever. The recognition we found in this event shows that our hard work is paying off. We feel more motivated and inspired to work better for a community that has been so welcoming and kind to us. And of course, we are all excited to meet you in WordCamp USA and WordCamp Europe in Portugal next year!
